I was traveling with my husband this week and picked up a USA Today in the hotel lobby. In the Life section, the article on Celebrities wearing less and less makeup caught my eye and I wanted to share the article with my customers and blog readers. 

I too am one of those makeup minimalist. I choose not to apply makeup everyday. But if I do decide to put on some blush or eyeliner,  I am as conscious about my makeup as I am about my skin care and food. The makeup that I use is chemical, paraben, and mercury free, safe for the skin and not tested on animals.

Here are a few facts you may not know, that I read from the Tribune on The Harmful Effects of Makeup on your Skin.

"Lipsticks, kajal sticks and eye-shawdows, for example are known to contain lead, a carcinogen and neurotoxinn that can affect the nervous system adversely, leading to high blood pressure, allergies, behavioral abnormalities, and even decreased rates in fertility. Mercury and parabens-a chemical preservative used in many cosmetics-are some other hazardous substances common to beauty products. They are known to trigger the growth of cancer cells in the body."

This is only one paragraph out of a whole article on the hazards of makeup. I believe that It is definitely time for all of us to wake up and pay attention to what goes on our skin and in our body. The days of sticking our heads in the sand is really over. Do your research.  Care about your body and make conscious healthy choices for it.  There is so much information out there on the this subject. It is actually overwhelming how many chemicals and toxins we "CHOOSE" to put on our skin.
